The Bucks Bake-Off Results

As many of you will know, last Saturday we played host to the inaugural Buckinghamshire Bake-Off, organised by the lovely Beverley Glock, local celebrity chef and head of the Splat Cooking Cookery School.

The event was a huge success with over 120 entries across 5 categories with entrants of all ages and some fantastic cakes on show. Judging took place in the afternoon, with an array of celebrity judges including BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell, Hero Brown of the immensely popular ‘Muddy Stilettos’ blog, Steve Sidhu of ’10 Mile Menu’, ITN Reporter Paul Davies, Cllr Alan Turner – Town Mayor & Chairman of Princes Risborough Town Council and of course Beverley herself!

After a great deal of cake munching and some very difficult decisions the judges announced their decisions in the afternoon with a slightly emotional Pauline Greaves receiving the accolade of Champion of Champions for her incredible cake barn, receiving the top prize of the day; a KitchenAid food mixer.

Elizabeth Basnett won the title of Junior Champion with her superb cupcakes and received a Nude Audio Speaker system donated by Mike Dudderidge, CEO of Nude Audio and another one of our esteemed judges.

Mike Bushell handed out the prizes at the end of the day and announced the winners of our raffle with over £400 worth of prizes up for grabs donated by our sponsors!

At the end of the day, we all left the Cafe full of cake and satisfaction of a job well done. The event raised £1079.16 for BBC Sport Relief and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event (probably in the summer next time!)

If you have any thoughts or suggestions on how the Bake-Off ran please feel free to get in touch with us at, and don’t forget to check out our sponsors ( and if you’re keen to enter next year be sure to check out Beverley’s classes over at her website:
