Fully open!

What a week it has been. These ‘openings’ are like buses – none for a while and then two in two days! Farm Shop and Play Area now fully open…

We’re delighted with our lovely little Farm Shop, Askett’s best place for fresh meat and local produce. We’re stocking a range of locally made, high quality sausages, burgers, bacon and pigeon breasts (seriously good and worth trying if you’ve not had them before). Plus some tasty snacks, locally prepared oils, incredible salad dressings, mustards and sauces, bread and eggs. We’re hoping to add some scrummy milk (full fat plus semi-skimmed) at some point soon, dependent upon space. We’ll always try to stock what is in season and locally available – sometimes not always possible to fill all the shelves with ‘local’, but we’ll do our very best.

The Play Area is also great, in our humble opinion. A solid TP climbing frame (which took FOREVER to assemble but was worth it in the end), a Little Tikes see-saw, giant Jenga, giant noughts and crosses, giant dominoes and by the end of tomorrow a giant sand pit. The play area is completely enclosed and totally safe, accessible only from the seating terrace, so you’ll always know where your little ones are. Please may we ask, if you come to see us, that you keep an eye on your kids and make sure that a) they’re safe at all times and b) they don’t hurtle around the Garden Centre upsetting those people quietly browsing for plants.

So, we’re a few weeks in and now fully open. We’re ironing out the wrinkles and perfecting our art, loving every minute of it. We’re truly amazed at the level of support we’ve received from you all – from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We’re very grateful and excited by the opportunity to provide jobs for local people and new business for local suppliers.

From the sweltering foot of the Chiltern Hills we wish you health and happiness for the week ahead.

Hurrah and congratulations! Our family has been looking forward to the farm shop opening, but I must admit that I didn’t realise there would be the bonus of a play area. Now the kids will love going to Askett with Daddy. Well done!

Thanks Kali. Early days, but we’re really enjoying it and we hope that we’ve created something that works well for the local community. Look forward to seeing you down there at some point.

      Best Regards
